the Haseltine story

Loanna Haseltine grew up in a small town nestled in the middle of the vast tracts of Alaska.

From her earliest days, she always wanted to create fashion. She studied Haute Couture in Paris at L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndical de la Couture Parisienne where designers like: Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Issey Miyake, and Courreges were taught.

Loanna fell in love with French style, mastered the language, and then studied at the Beaux-Arts to compliment her studies in fashion.

Shortly after arriving in Paris, Loanna was selected as an intern at John Galliano, then later at Ocimar Versalato- designer of Lanvin, and then Christian Lacroix. Making little or no money working in these famous Couture houses learning her craft she moonlighted by making custom pieces for the ladies at her work. Little by little clients found their way to her. Working from a chambre-de-bonne (maids-room) on the top 8th floor walk-up; in this tiny cell with only cold water and fireplace to heat it in winter, first editors, publishers and fashion journalists at Vogue and other glossy magazines heard about her unique style and found their way to the top of the spiral staircase. Later, with no budget for a fashion show she found her models from the students at the Centre de Marais dance studios. The dancers guided Loanna to learn how the body moved and how to make clothing that conformed but supported a woman's figure in movement.

Today her designs continue to be inspired by her origins in the Great North, with references to nature, natural history and biology.

Haseltine creations have found their way around the world starting in Paris and then to London, Moscow, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Leading members of the cinema, media, and also runway stars wear her designs.

In addition, to enjoying a strong and growing international private client list and Loanna Haseltine has received coverage in Vogue, Elle, L’Officiel de Mode, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia, The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, The Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, and Women’s Wear Daily.

Loanna insists in keeping her atelier in Paris, France. This is where everything with her label is made. Each piece is completely hand-made here and may take anywhere form 15- 400 hours of craft-persons attentive care to create.

The Haseltine team is made up just a few artisans, where each person is essential to produce the whole; and everyone’s voice is important to the integrity of the brand.
